Ben Pilgrim gave a talk at Frontiers in Chemistry Armenia (ArmChemFront), held in Yerevan. Ben's talk was entitled 'Covalent post-assembly modification of tetrazine-edged self-assembled molecular capsules'. #Conferences #People
Jake Greenfield, a PhD student at the end of his third year in the group won a prize for the best poster at the 9th Joint CSJ/RSC Symposium on Designing Molecular Function at the Nano-Scale: Catalysis, Materials and Supramolecular Chemistry.
At the annual symposium of the Materials RIG in the Department, all PhD students at the end of their third year gave talks. Jake Greenfield's talk entitled "A Twisted Tale of Self-Assembled, Helical Metallopolymers" won one of the best talk prizes.
The whole group went on a five day retreat to Dolwyddelan in Snowdonia National Park in Wales. We had lots of time to brainstorm new ideas and exciting directions in which to take the group's science. There was also time set aside to explore the area and to get to know each other. We had fun visiting the local slate caverns and castle ruins. Some members battled the Welsh weather to go on walks in the hills, including up the 872 m high Carnedd Moel Siabod.
