Xu Kuang grew up in Singapore and earned his B.A. in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) from the University of Cambridge in 2025. He is currently pursuing an MPhil under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Nitschke, focusing on interlocked cage systems.

 

During his undergraduate years, Xu gained research experience across multiple institutions: he explored polypeptide sequencing methodologies with Professor Yi Yan Yang at A*STAR (Singapore), worked on functionalised hydrogels with Professor Oren Scherman at Cambridge, and investigated molecular hopper systems in nanopores alongside Professors Hagan Bayley and Yujia Qing at Oxford.

 

Beyond the lab, Xu is a Blues volleyball athlete representing the University of Cambridge and an avid solo acoustic guitarist.
