Houyang Xu

Houyang was born in Guangzhou, China in 1999. He studied Chemistry at the School of Chemistry, Sun Yat-sen University from 2017-2021. In 2017, he joined the group of Prof. Kelong Zhu to conduct research on the synthesis and characterisation of mechanically interlocked molecules. He also did a short internship in the group of Dr. Renfeng Dong in South China Normal University to work on light-driven micromotors.

 

After obtaining his BSc in Chemistry degree in 2021 with honours from Yat-sen School, Sun Yat-sen University, Houyang joined the Nitschke group in the same year as a PhD student with support from the Cambridge Trust in collaboration with the China Scholarship Council. While not in the laboratory, he enjoys running, cycling, classical and rock and roll music.
