Sergiu was born and raised in Bistrița, a little medieval town in northern Romania. He then began studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where he has just finished his third year in Chemistry. Working on Chiral Covalent Organic Frameworks at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca during the summer after his second year sparked his interest in supramolecular chemistry. After the third year, Sergiu joined Nitschke’s group to work on tetra-aniline spindle-structured cages as a summer student, under the kind supervision of Tash and Jack.

In his free time, Sergiu enjoys photography, visiting museums, slow train travelling, and reading history books to find out why Bram Stoker started `Dracula` in his little town.
